San Francisco is blessed with a really good food scene. In fact, it ranks as the #1 city in the US with the most restaurants per capita. With so many choices, sometimes it is hard to decide where to eat. Being the nature-lover that I am, I tend to pick places with nice views to enjoy with my family and friends. Here is a list of my top picks for enjoying a good meal with beautiful views in the Bay Area.
- Brunch at Louis – family owned diner located at Lands End by Cliff House at Ocean Beach. Being at a tourist location, this place gets busy, especially on the weekends, so be prepared to wait in line.
- Afternoon tea at Cliff House – at the foothills of Lands End and Sutro Baths, Cliff House is famous for its picturesque dining atmosphere. Inside Cliff House you can see pictures of what Sutro Baths used to look like. You can also choose to dine in the casual Bistro Dining area or the more elegant Sutro’s. The Terrace Room is opened for Sunday Brunch. I preferred to grab a few drinks at the bar/lounge area (open seating) next to the windows and enjoy the view while sipping on cocktails.
- Tapas at Coqueta – grab tapas and drinks at this unassuming waterfront restaurant by the Bay Bridge on Embarcadero.
- Ghost hunting at Moss Beach Distillery – a restaurant just outside San Francisco in Half Moon Bay, located on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is officially as a California Point of Historical Interest. Besides the casual dining choices (restaurant or outside on patio by the fire), Moss Beach Distillery is known for its famous ghost, “The Blue Lady” who is known to roam the restaurant and the beach where she was murdered.
- Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. – dine in the outdoor terrace at this brewing company in Half Moon Bay.
