We began our day in Frisco with breakfast at the popular Butterhorn Bakery and Cafe. It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio and people watched. We could totally tell it was low season because the town was super quiet. It was very nice!
Rocky Mountain National Park – Grand Lake Entrance (~2 hour drive)
After breakfast we started our journey to Rocky Mountain National Park. Our original plan of driving through the park from west to east was derailed because of a snow storm the week prior which hampered efforts of clearing the road connecting the park. Because of this, we ended up having to drive around the park to get to the east side.
We entered the park on the west side, and we drove around in search of wildlife. We saw a newborn baby moose with its moose family and lots of elk in the meadows! During our visit, we stopped by Holzwarth Historic site, or the Never Summer Ranch, and walked around. It was a dude ranch in its heydays, and tourists would go vacation on the ranch.
Unfortunately the weather was starting to look bad, so we hopped into our car and drove around the park to get to the east entrance at Estes Park.
